Making Summer Transitions Easier
New seasonal additions to the Visual Routine Cards inspired by “Summer Song.”
We are ready for summer mode and all the adventures that go along with it.
Kevin Henkes is one of our favorite authors. He writes a series of books that we enjoy revisiting for welcoming new seasons, including Summer Song.
Like many of Henkes’ books, the story invites children to notice the changes occurring in their world. Simple, lyrical text and colorful illustrations by Laura Dronzek show readers the buzzing insects, growing plants, changing weather, and sweet signs that summer has officially arrived.
Revisiting the book this week reminded me how much our daily rhythms can turn on their head with the change in seasons, often bringing difficulty with transitions.
Summer brings new things, like garden chores, beach days, water play, nature walks, camping adventures, and long, slow afternoons outside. Our routines may look different, but I’ve found my kids thrive when they know what’s coming next. This resource has brought a little more peace to our home, so I’m hoping it does the same …
